The Labrador Retriever is considered America’s favorite breed. They have eared this title because the American Kennel Club (AKC) has ranked them as the number 1 most popular breed in the United States for over 27 years in a row. This is the longest reign of any dog breed in the history of the AKC. The Labrador Retriever is a sporting dog, originally bred to retrieve floating fish.
They have a short double coat that provides insulation as well as water re-sistance. They also have webbed toes, consequently allowing them to swim quickly. Another great quality of the Labrador Retriever is their sprinting ability, which allows them to reach 12 mph in just 3 seconds! Labrador Re-trievers are also great working dogs.
